Five Day Mindful Self-Compassion Residential 2026 with Ali Lambie

About the Five Day Residential Mindful Self-Compassion Training

This five day fully residential training provides the opportunity to learn (or revisit) the territory of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), the groundbreaking evidence-based programme developed by Drs Kristin Neff and Chris Germer.

The residential setting of this offering allows a real deep dive to embed the skills to treat ourselves (and therefore others) with greater kindness and humanity. MSC is founded on three components: Mindfulness (so we become much clearer about how we’re relating to ourselves and our experiences and can make better informed choices about how to respond and engage with life); Common Humanity (understanding and having direct experience that we’re not alone in navigating the challenges as well as the joys of the human condition); and Self-Kindness (learning both the tender and fierce aspects of what living from a deeply  compassionate place might look and feel like).

What to expect

The residential format allows for plenty of periods of silent practice, together with guided exercises and opportunity for reflective explorations in small and whole group. There will be generous time for self-care outside of the formal sessions and a typical day will follow this format:

7.15 am (optional) early morning practice
8.00 am breakfast
9.15 am morning session (with refreshment break)
12.30 pm lunch and time for self-care
3.30 pm afternoon session (with refreshment break)
6.30 pm dinner + free time (some optional evening activities / walks etc)

Hill Cottage Retreat Centre is a perfect setting to support this training located as it is in gorgeous and peaceful rolling countryside on the Welsh border, yet also within 10 minutes’ drive of Knighton railway station.

Accommodation is in a number of beautifully designed eco-friendly units where each participant has their own bedroom. The circular group room where we spend most of our time is a delightful light and airy space with far reaching views. Outside possibilities abound too – gorgeous grounds to explore including outdoor swimming pond and walks further afield including along the Offa’s Dyke walking trail. Catering is wholesome, homemade (and largely homegrown / organic) and vegetarian. Special diets can be catered for.

Who is the residential for?

This training is open to all – whether you’ve taken a mindfulness training or are new to this. It is also very appropriate for those who’ve already taken an MSC course and would like to deepen their practice. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss whether this residential might be right for you.
